Proposed Changes to the Qualifications Framework for the UAE, the QFEmirates
Over the past 12 months, the National Qualifications Authority (NQA) has been liaising with stakeholders and gathering other evidence as part of the review of the 2012 National Qualifications Framework for the UAE, the QFEmirates. Some stakeholders have expressed an interest in making changes to the architecture of the QFEmirates in the following areas:
a) The introduction of an applied doctorate as a new type of vocational qualification
b) The introduction of a unit award as a new type of Award
c) The recognition of continuous education units
d) The addition of a core life skill related to the UAE national agenda for happiness and positivity.
The NQA is investigating the views of other stakeholders about these suggested changes. If you need to refer to the current QFEmirates Handbook to respond to this survey, you can find the handbook here - https://www.nqa.gov.ae/en/Documents/QF_Handbook_FINAL.pdf
As some of the questions refer to credits, it is important to note that in the QFEmirates, a notional value of 15 hours (with additional study hours) equates to one (1) credit.
The NQA is also re-evaluating some key terms currently used for the vocational education and training sector after discussions with some stakeholders about branding of this sector in the UAE.
Findings from this survey will inform the development of the QFEmirates Handbook 2018.
Outcome
The NQA received 163
responses to the survey. Many respondents support the proposed changes to the
QFEmirates
